Starting out as a manufacturing company in 1929, YAZAKI has since accumulated over 75 years of expertise, allowing us to make continuous improvements in many areas, such as consulting, development and lifecycle management, based on extensive, first-hand experience. As a successful global enterprise, YAZAKI prides itself on utilising the most up to date processes, equipment and tools and setting the latest trends and benchmarks of quality.

 

In-house tool development and sub-component production are just two of the ways in which YAZAKI is controlling its manufacturing technologies and methods. YAZAKI, as a vertical integrated company, has the highest level of control over all processes. Electrical Distribution Systems

Innovative global manufacturing approach

YAZAKI has created a Global Manufacturing Engineering Steering Committee (GMESC), to implement simultaneously high global standards for equipment and manufacturing methods. Through our manufacturing guidelines, we ensure a standardised manufacturing method inside YAZAKI – for ourselves and our customers’ top-class expectations.

YAZAKI has a broad diversification of business (both technically an geographically) – therefore a clear understanding of related specifics in manufacturing. This has resulted over time in the introduction of many manufacturing technologies.  Examples:

  • The customer-specific wiring harness manufacturing process since 1993
  • The POF (Plastic Optical Fibre) System, which is completely integrated in a fully automated manufacturing process
  • Custom truck harness manufacturing in Europe and worldwide

 

Process area – Highlights

 

  • Final Assembly
    A fully automatic process - from the initial customer drawing to the final assembly jig board layout and manufacturing. YAZAKI is the global standard for final assembly jig boards and forks with its requirements for high-quality manufacturing methods.

  • Testing
    YAZAKI has its own specially designed test system. This system is linked to the engineering system and enables automatic program creation (Final Assembly). Our continuous benchmarking ensures top competitiveness - in comparison to other existing market systems.

  • Cutting
    YAZAKI’s development of its own cutting equipment ensures that its stringent requirements for the cutting process are completely covered. Our standardisation of the cutting area workplace ensures excellent efficiency on a global basis.

  • Crimping
    Our independently defined set of crimping standards and exclusively designed crimping applicators ensure the highest crimping quality during the process - regardless of the size of the job, while our global database ensures a consistent standard worldwide for all our products.

 

 

Electronics & Instrumentation

YAZAKI has a truly global manufacturing footprint. We are present on all continents of the world, adding Argentina to our South American locations in 2006. We strictly follow global manufacturing standards, which allows for easy production movement from one location to another in a short time while maintaining the same, high-quality standards.

YAZAKI has two plants in Europe for electronics & instrumentation manufacturing: Portugal (YSE) and Romania (YCT). Both plants have injection moulding, final assembly and test capability. In addition, the Romanian plant also has full Surface Mount Technology (SMT), spray painting, selective soldering and conformal coating as part of its standard manufacturing processes.

In Japan and Thailand’s in-house centralised production areas, YAZAKI produces printed dial plates and stepper motors. This vertical integration has helped to enhance YAZAKI’s reputation for top-class performance and materials in the market.

Manufacturing quality

Our objective is to be best in quality – industry-wide. We utilise global corporation knowledge and experience in all aspects of our business. In particular, with our goal of zero defects, we analyse our own systems and processes to ensure defects are not passed from one station to the next. This process protects our customers both internally and externally.

Manufacturing technologies

YAZAKI continuously extends and improves the technologies used in its production facilities. Compressed conductor technology is used for wire, with thin and ultra thin PVC and PP isolation. YAZAKI also produces halogen-free wire for European customers – a step ahead in the environmental approach.

Different tool dyes are used for injection moulding, such as cold and hot runners, but also tandem mold techniques. In addition, all moulds are equipped with the quick die change system.

Manufacturing experience

In order to keep control of and ensure the highest possible quality level, YAZAKI relies primarily on internal production capabilities. With a long experience of producing components for the European automotive market, YAZAKI is the backbone of high quality standard production in Europe. Continuous product improvements have lead to today’s outstanding product range in:

Manufacturing strategy

A main goal for YAZAKI is to avoid unnecessary costs for transportation, duty, currency risk and excessive component stock; therefore, our strategy is that customised developments should be produced in Europe for Europe. The end result for you is delivery flexibility - especially for global product lines such as the YES Connector series.
