The outstanding YAZAKI Products

Driven by Innovation – Controlled by Quality

  Safety & Chassis

YAZAKI is meeting the increasing demand of safety systems in today’s vehicles, using our focus on delivering high-quality products. YAZAKI has developed connection systems with high reliability for:

  • Airbags (0.64 mm Go-NoGo series and IFK)
  • Airbag- and Electronic Control Units (high-pole connectors)

Go-NoGo connectors

Originating from the increasing demand of a small sized connector family for Airbag/safety applications, YAZAKI has developed the Go-NoGo connector family, based upon 0.64 mm terminal systems. YAZAKI’s target is to offer improved mating performance by usage of a spring lock mechanism – this guarantees to eliminate a half mating condition.

The spring force cuts the connection in case of not fully mated connection. The spring loaded cover will move back during mating operation and snap forward on full mating, providing protection against inadvertent disengagement. In addition, the spring will force the male and female connector to dismount, if mating is not complete.

Other important features are:

  • Both Sealed and unsealed versions available
  • Shorting bar (SB) version available
  • Compact and robust design
  • Comes pre-assembled to reduce part number complexity
  • Composed of contrasting colours for visual confirmation of presence
  • Interface seal protected in female housing
  • All connectors with secondary terminal lock
  • Male connector with robust shroud to protect terminal blades from wrenching

YAZAKI 2P IFK (Igniter Firing Key) connectors

Due to the increasing usage of Airbags in today’s vehicles, the European OEMs have had increasing cost due to scrap and high shipment cost, as it has until now not been possible to terminate the squib connectors at the wiring harness plant.

YAZAKI has identified this issue and developed the YAZAKI IFK. The connector should be delivered to the harness plant as a one piece already populated with ferrites and terminals. The only thing that the harness manufacturer needs to do is: to put wires into the connector, crimp and close the connector. Highlights of the IFK:

  • Market competitive price
  • One of the smallest in the market today
  • Crimp solution available
  • Welding solution design ready
  • Solution for contamination issue
  • Uses market released and proofed terminals
  • Best EMC test performance at Volvo
  • Fits to existing interfaces with 3 different codings
  • The YAZAKI IFK is sold as separate connector or complete sub-assembly

The major advantage over existing squib connectors is that one side can be crimped automatically by a standard crimping machine, the other side (squib connector) can be crimped with a simple manual process in the wiring harness plant.
