Environmental wire approach

Our environmental philosophy, which is rooted in the company management policy and our long experience with wiring harness has encouraged us for early investigation and developments in:

  • Less material appliance (e.g. reduce usage of virgin material)

    In the last 40 years innovative technology and production progress enabled us to reduce the outer diameter of our wire from the thick walled PVC insulated wire in the 1970’s to the thin walled PVC range in the 1980’s and to ultra thin walled types in the 1990’s. This technology enhancement is the basis for today’s application on new wire type developments, with less isolation material.
  • New materials, which are less harmless to man and environment

    Another important step towards our environmental philosophy was done, when in 2000 our first compressed halogen free thin walled wire was introduced, quickly followed by ultra thin halogen free wires. Halogen free material can be recycled without given off acidic gases.
  • Weight reduction (e.g. wire size reduction)

    The on-going development of smaller, thinner and lighter wires, with the move from 0.35 mm² to 0.22 mm² and 0.13 mm², enabled further steps in  tighter packaging and weight reduction. Since 2006 YAZAKI has the 0.13 mm² wire in mass production, currently the smallest available wire size in the automotive industry.

YAZAKI’s complete range of halogen free wire according to ISO 6722 up to now covers the following types and sizes:

In addition halogen free wire accessories like tubes, convoluted tubes (COT) and tapes have been developed to establish a complete line up in halogen free products and enable a holistic system.
